Reaching Deaf People of Haiti in Their Native Sign Language

Under the umbrella of Love Deaf Haiti, Inc., Deaf leaders reach their own people group with  the saving message of Jesus Christ in their heart language–native sign language. They also bring together like-minded partners in support of Deaf people in Haiti  through education, spiritual training, economic support, physical sustenance,  language development, and social and cultural advocacy.

Fighting the Fight

Spiritual Warfare:

One of the greatest battles in Haiti is spiritual. Voodoo, satanic worship, and evil practices are prevalent. Love Deaf Haiti, Inc. is teaching our Deaf family how to fight the battle through prayer and understanding the Word of God.

Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Breaking the Stigma

There is a strong stigma affiliated with being Deaf in Haiti. The general hearing population views Deaf people as uneducable, inferior, and undeserving individuals. Love Deaf Haiti, Inc. strives to eliminate the stigma by teaching our LDH family their innate value in the eyes of God as well as demonstrating to the hearing community their independence, capabilities, and positive contributions to society as a whole.

John 9:2-3 (NLT)
“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?”
“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
